Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Press Event (2014)
In spring of 2014, Magic Kingdom's New Fantasyland opened its final attraction and most anticipated ride – the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
For the grand opening of the new attraction, we designed a temporary stage and props for a dedication ceremony hosted by Chairman of Disney Parks and Resorts Tom Staggs, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The stage was a huge success – even though it was originally slated to be temporary, executives liked it so much that it was kept for future events!
In addition to the dedication ceremony, our team prepared several days' worth of activities for the press - the Welcome Reception at Epcot World Showplace, Dedication Ceremony at the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Ride, the New Fantasyland Party, among several other smaller events.
Quite a lot of design work was completed for these events. Here's some photos of the parts of the press event that I designed & art directed.
SKILLS & SCOPE: Concept illustration for pitch & approval; creation of design/schematic drawings for scenic fabrication & print; graphic design; collaboration with technical/production/operations etc partners; managing scenic vendors, art directing install on-site.

2014 SPRING PRESS EVENT "ROCK YOUR DISNEY SIDE" PARTY
For the 2014 spring press event, the opening activity was the Rock Your Disney Side party at Epcot's World Showplace convention center. To introduce Disney's new offerings in context of Epcot's "around the world" theme, we offered a variety of international cuisine, live entertainment, as well as vignetted photo opportunities that highlighted new offerings in each park to get the media pumped for what was yet to come.
I designed & art directed the photo ops for this event as well as assisting with the overall stylistic elements throughout. Below are pictures of the parts I directly designed and field art directed.
2014 SPRING PRESS EVENT NEW FANTASYLAND PARTY
Another event to celebrate the completion of New Fantasyland was the New Fantasyland party. With Seven Dwarfs jewel-toned tablecloths & decor, roaming characters, food and photo ops, this event gave the media a great time in the park to promote the land.
I designed & art directed the photo ops for this event as well as assisting with the overall stylistic elements throughout.
