Hollywood Studios' Animation Courtyard is home to the Disney Junior characters and entertainment in the parks. In 2013, we decided to give them better locations for kids and families to be able to take pictures with their favorite characters.

 

   Around the Playhouse Disney building, we designed for Sofia the First and Jake and the Neverland Pirates themed, layered environments to fit the space and characters' needs. It was a huge success – lines have gone around the building since opening day!

   To stay true to the shows, we selected the backdrops that were existing illustrations taken straight from the TV artwork. However, I designed all the elements around the backdrop to create an immersive space for the experience. The backdrops also have dimensional layered pieces that "pop out" from the backdrop.

   Out of the large number of drawings created for this project, the concept illustrations and a small number of the working drawings for the signage and floor are below.
